Mass of Commissioning

On Friday 7 February, Stuartholme School celebrated as a community with a Mass of Commissioning.

Our theme focused on Goal Two: A Deep Respect for Intellectual Values and highlighted this year’s motto: Critical, Collaborative, Creative.

Fr Peter Quin SJ and Fr Gaetan Pereira SJ concelebrated Mass for us.

A highlight of the service was the traditional smoking ceremony led by Aboriginal Elders Uncle Eric and Auntie Shirley Law The ritual was held to keep the school community safe and unified this year.

The Year 12 students and staff were commissioned to lead in the spirit of Cor Unum and every student received a bookmark that was designed by Sr Rita Carroll and inspired by one of the stained glass panels in the Chapel

“We pray that 2014 will be a year of increased respect for intellectual values at Stuartholme. Help us grow more deeply into a learning community that critiques the world around us, collaborates to explore solutions and employs our creativity to respond to the needs of our time. Lord hear us.” – Harriet Williams, Coen House Captain.
