Music teacher excels in The Phantom of the Opera

The talented lady is not only teaching music and drama at our School, but recently performed in Queensland’s first amateur production of The Phantom of The Opera.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber classic has never been produced prior to this by an amateur production company.

“I have been involved in over 25 musical productions but when I heard the production rights of The Phantom were being released, I knew I had to be involved,” she said.

Danika had several roles in the production including Madame Giry’s understudy, Wardrobe Mistress, Confidante as well as a Chorus vocalist.

The musical was produced by community theatre company Savoyards Musical Comedy Society Incorporated based in Wynnum.

Director Jason Ward Kennedy said he was very excited to be involved in such an iconic musical production.

“It’s been fantastic,” he said.

“We’ve had to be a bit more clever and original but ultimately everyone loved it.”

The dark and romantic musical has brought audiences around the globe to their feet and this production is no different.

“It’s been an amazing experience,” Danika said.

“I would highly recommend anyone thinking of being more involved in musical theatre to give it a go; you have nothing to lose.”

Head of Music at Stuartholme, Andrew Mear, is especially proud of Danika’s commitment to the Arts.

“She’s an incredibly inspirational and talented performer and it’s great to see her succeed,” he said.
