As a leader in educating girls and empowering them to be the best they can be, Stuartholme School is proud to support Queensland Women’s Week which runs from 6 – 12 March.

The 2017 theme for Queensland Women’s Week is: Be involved. Lead the way. Stuartholme girls don’t need to look far for examples of strong leaders.

Our first sisters arrived in Queensland in 1917 to open a new Sacred Heart School and found the ideal location in Stuartholme. The early days at Stuartholme would not have been easy, there was no running water or electricity, little furniture and snakes and mosquitos in plaque proportions. But these determined and courageous women embraced the pioneering aspect and began their little school.

Since then, Stuartholme students have been taught, led and inspired by women who, through their leadership, have shown the girls how to be involved and lead the way.

As part of our Queensland Women’s Week celebrations, we will be sharing a profile of one of our Alumna, staff or students each day via Facebook, on what they are doing in their industry and their thoughts on women and leadership.

We invite you to read their stories and comment on your own experiences.
