Rowing to victory

A group of Stuartholme Rowers made their way to Lake Kawana for the Queensland South School Championships on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July.

The regatta is one of the larger championship regattas on the school calendar and one Stuartholme was not going to miss.

Stuartholme’s Director of Rowing Matt Marden said the girls have been training hard and although fatigued from their recent rowing camps, their efforts paid off with Stuartholme taking home two gold, four silver and two bronze medals from the event.

“I was so proud of all the girls, especially our Year 8 squad who took out the gold and bronze in the Year 8 quad division.

“There were also some amazing individual achievements with Emma Tucker, Year 8, winning bronze in the single scull and Genevieve James, Year 9, winning silver,” Matt said.

In addition, the Year 10 1st Quad won gold, the Year 9 1st Quad, Open 4 and Open 1st VIII all winning silver.

Congratulations girls, and good luck for the racing season!
