Year 12 students Lorraine Jaffer, Maggie Bowen, Mena Newman, Schascle Bassani, Shahmin Pratt, Tessa Friday-Bulsey, Elizabeth Mortimer and Elizabeth Higgins joined other indigenous students from Brisbane Catholic schools for the annual Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduation Liturgy at St Stephens Cathedral on Friday 9 October.
The liturgy was an opportunity for indigenous students to be recognised for their outstanding educational achievements.
Andrée Rice, Deputy Principal Mission/Boarding said the ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the girls’ effort.
“Six of these students come from remote Cape York communities and they have beaten the statistics in achieving successful completion of Year 12,” she said.
We wish the girls every success and happiness after they graduate from school.
