Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships

After making it into the State team, four talented Stuartholme girls, and their horses, were invited to compete in the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in Weeibee from 29th September to Friday 3rd October 2014.
The National Interschool Championships attracts more than 2000 school based competitors aged 5-18 years old from right around the country.
The Stuartholme team was made up of Emily Rink in Year 9, Maddison Searly in Year 10, and Seniors Hannah Lewindon and Brittany Murphy.
Hannah and Brittany said all the riders rode amazingly well at this level of competition.
“The weather conditions made things very tough, we had rain, wind and hail which made the ground very slippery for the horses,” they said.
Despite the conditions, the Stuartholme riders rode with presence and team spirit.
Emily rode exceptionally well. She was coming 3rd in Australia after the dressage phase, then was leading the event after the very competitive and technical cross country course, however unfortunately dropped down in the show jumping phase in the One Star.
“Emily also completed a beautiful clear showjumping round, she is a true professional,” Hannah and Brittany said.
This competition was Maddison’s first interstate competition and she also performed extremely well with the harder courses and high standard of competition.
Maddison placed 21st overall in the very large and competitive Pre Novice eventing class and overall 15th in the Elementary Dressage.
Hannah had the honour of being selected as the State Team Captain, State Eventing Captain and Flag Bearer for the opening ceremony. She also competed in the 1 Star Eventing and Working Hunter classes on her horse ‘Veretti’. Hannah was coming 2nd in the 1 Star after the first phase, however due to her mare falling ill Hannah unfortunately had to retire from the competition which was very disappointing for her, however she did came second in the Rider class event of Show Horse.
As the State Show jumping Captain, Brittany lead her team to become National Champions. Brittany was also selected to ride her mare ‘She’s a Diva’ in the 1.20m class where she came home with a 5th in the very technical AM5 competition.
Well done girls, Stuartholme is very proud of you.
