Students from Stuartholme School and Nudgee College played alongside jazz icon James Morrison at the Brisbane Airport on Thursday 6 June.
Their flash mob performance included classics like Waltzing Matilda, Ode to Joy and We Will Rock You.
They plan to play at Suncorp Stadium on 13 July and break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Orchestra.
Stuartholme student Georgia Perry said it was an amazing experience; one she’ll never forget.
“I’m really looking forward to playing at Suncorp Stadium and breaking the record,” she said.
“We’ve been practicing for months now and it’s amazing to finally see it come together.”
The record attempt is an initiative of the Queensland Music Festival.
To break the record it will take 6,500 performers playing simultaneously for over five minutes.
Head of Music at Stuartholme Andrew Mear said he was exceptionally proud of the girls’ efforts and dedication to their performances.
“They have worked so hard to get to this point, it’s wonderful to see the passion and excitement in their faces as they play.” he said.
Students will play a mixture of strings, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments to break the record.
