Stuartholme students were honoured to be part of Yeronga State High School's Annual Awards Evening on Wednesday 16 November where they awarded two Yeronga students the Stuartholme School Cafe Committee Homework Club Award.
Stuartholme girls go to Yeronga every Thursday afternoon to provide academic support at Homework Club. Students from both schools get to know one another, share stories and bond over common interests.
Students raised money for the awards, which recognised the best/hardworking student male and female who attends Homework Club from their cafe. Each recipient received $500.
This year, the audience was able to recognise refugee student Mojgan Shamsalipoor, who was not able to receive her Year 12 Certificate in 2015 because she was detained by Australian Immigration and held in Darwin.
Stuartholme staff and students joined the community in protesting Mojgan's plight and this year witnessed Mojgan receive her award to a standing ovation.
