Student leadership is action, not position

A peer selected group who act as role models for younger students and a friendly face when in need.

At Stuartholme School, a committee of 5 exceptionally talented and well-rounded ladies work together to structure the core leadership for the year.

They are the Cor Unum Committee. One heart and one mind in the heart of Jesus.

The 2013 Cor Unum Captain, Emily Ferguson said for her, the role was much more than just a badge.

“It’s about what the role allows you to do,” she said.

“I remember when I was younger, I would look up to the Cor Unum leaders and always felt they were approachable and there if I needed anything. I wanted to be that for my girls.”

The newly elected 2014 Captain Billie Bridger said she is most looking forward to being able to build community with the girls and involving them in fun activities.

“Stuartholme has a warm and supportive community which allows us to have a go and make the most of our schooling years,” she said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting a group of girls together for the Colour Run – Relay for Life for example."

Director of Pastoral Care at Stuartholme Andrea Reddan said the experience of being a student leader is very special.

“It provides the girls with many opportunities to show strength of character and excel outside of the traditional avenues of class work,” she said.

“It is my hope that as they journey through the year, they are enriched as individuals and as members of the community.”

The Cor Unum Committee promotes school spirit and the building of community.

“It’s going to be a fantastic year and I can’t wait to get started!” Billie said.
